The Quality Engineer will assure the quality of manufactured parts and assemblies through advanced quality planning analysis and control techniques

Your Role:  Establishment of and including but not limited to Failure Mode & Effects Analysis  (FMEA), Control Plans, Inspection Instructions and Gauging requirements.  To perform failure analysis on internal and external defectives.  Training of Inspectors in gauging techniques and new gauging.  Coordinate effectively with internal departments, suppliers and customers.   Coordinate the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) through to submission to the customer. Facilitate the development of quality system requirements for products including the submission of required customer documentation.

Key Activities

  • Reading and interpreting blueprint requirements and all process and product acceptance standards.
  • Coordinate the multi-functional Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Control Plans with applicable Departments.
  • Component revision level verification for all jobs
  • Statistical analysis
  • Repeatability and Reproducibility studies
  • Gauge design
  • Failure analysis
  • Process Auditing / Layered Process Audits (LPA)
  • Train QA personnel on Plastic Injection molding principles
  • Customer liaison for the Huf TN facility
  • Work daily on customer portals to manage issues, product launch and engineering changes

Desired Profile

Educational Requirements:  Associates Degree or up to 8 years’ experience in a similar role

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • 3 Years minimum experience preferred as Quality Engineer in manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Advanced Quality Planning.
  • Working knowledge of advanced problem solving skills including but not limited to process mapping, cause & effects matrix, failure mode & effects analysis, capability indices, multi-variant studies, designed experiments and  Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).
  • Complete knowledge of the automotive industry’s AIAG Production Part Approval Process.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and make consistent accurate decisions.
  • Previous automotive experience as a Quality Engineer.
  • Practical applied experience and / or certifications in Quality Technology disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen,  Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments, Quality System Certifications as well as auditing
